Swiss Typeface Poster

This project explores the Neue Hass Grotesk Display typeface as a typography poster. Neue Haas Grotesk was designed by Swiss designer Max Miedinger in 1957 and soon became the Helvetica typeface. It was later restored back to its original font style when it was digitized in 2004. This design was inspired by Swiss design posters from the late 1950s with the text meticulously placed in a grid layout which is a distinct feature of the International Typographic Style.

This project was designed for the BYU-Idaho Art 230 Typography class.
Swiss designs often use red and white from the Swiss flag, and black. This design is typical of what is seen from the 1950s era.

This orange, cream, and black color scheme is inspired by the works of Swiss designer Josef Müller-Brockmann.

This color scheme incorporates the red and white colors of the Swiss flag often seen in Swiss design. The dark blue background gives the design a modern twist on the traditional red and white color scheme.

This color scheme with muted orange and yellow on black is inspired by retro design from the late 1950s and early 1960s.
