Hamburg and Speicherstadt

Speicherstadt - Hamburg
This is probably one of the most iconic quarter of Hamburg. Those red bricks buildings are part of the UNESCO World Heritage since 2015. The area was constructed during the 19th century and is probably one of the only historical area that was not destroyed during the WW2.
The whole area was actually dedicated to store spices, coffee and other related goods imported from other countries. Most of the buildings were used as warehouses and some of them still have the hooks that used to lift the boxes up from the ships.
The area is now dedicated to museums and offices, but the red bricks keep influencing in a way the whole architecture in the area.
They completed now the area with another remarkable building which is now one of the symbols of Hamburg. The Elbphilarmonie.
