I wanted to talk about how AfroFuturism in Black Panther since it’s the topic for most of the work in class in the last week. Black Panther really brought AfroFuturism to light in mainstream. It portrayed blackness in a dominant and superior way. It was very futuristic and allowed the power to be in the hands of an African man. Vibranium was a metal from outer space that got to the African region. It gave the Black Panther it’s power and fulled Wakanda making it the most powerful technological region. The fashion was mostly metallics and metal but still held that cultural representation as well as the traditions of African society’s but making it a fantasy.
