The project's focus was to design a building inside a typical block in Munich, using as a reference one of Palladio's Villas, designing from inside a special set of rooms and spaces that are interlinked with each other and form their own hierarchy... the society of rooms...
The building site is situated inside of a block in Maxforstadt, downtown of Munich
Those three renderings are made just in the beginning of the project. They were meant to set the mood for the future project
Our reference project was Villa Emo by Palladio. It is inserted in the middle of the site to demonstrate the proportions of it
The final volume is a simple rectangular shape with a slight tilt in the north
Additional to the tilt in the north, there is a similar crack in the south(of the ground floor), separating the ground floor from the whole building
The shape of the building is initially influenced by the urban strategy: the goal was to make the flow of citizens from north to south more fluent. The colonnade in the ground floor plays a key role here, and the above-mentioned tilt helps to point this passage directly towards the block entrance in the north
The proportions of Villa Emo were used to create a regular double-floor apartment. Four of such were fit into the shape, with central double ceiling rooms, located on different sides of the building
Our main materials: brick, concrete, wood
A regular apartment in the south
Second floor of a regular apartment
Potential uses besides housing
