The Crystal Context Booklet

The Crystal Context Booklet
This booklet is a typographic and structural representation of why Rock's argument on design is more favorable than Warde's. In "The Crystal Goblet", Beatrice Warde argues that designers are only allowed to create designs that holds and presents the content. While with Michael Rock's article "F*ck Content" argues that designers should create based on the context of their objective and not concern themselves with the actual content. Interstate is the chosen main body typeface to represent an opposition to Warde's argument as it represents a shifting landscape of typography through time. The main article structure will be standard but I inserted the word "context" into the body paragraphs to break this standardization up. On the left facing pages will be multiple letters spelling out a phrase supporting the stance of Rock over Warde in multiple sizes of type and placement. This expresses that printed work can be an artform as well as a vessel for its content.
Front and back cover.
Sample pages showcasing the typesetting of the written pieces by Warde and Rock as well as the feature of the missing space carved out by the large type on the left pages.
