Boylston station, along with its two neighboring stations, Part Street Station and Arlington Station, is a central  subway station of Boston’s Green Line subway. The Boston Green Line is not only one of the oldest and the most historic station in the U. S. history, but also it’s characteristic to travel above on, and below the ground, long the topography of the city is its biggest characteristics. The Boston Green Line embodies such fluidity of its movement and changes in heights of some stations, such as the Boylston Station, during the history. This also communicates the flexibility and nonexistent boundary of below the ground and above the ground. This project is set on the underground Boylston Station to create an underground environment more like a ground level to enhance the air qualities and people’s experience qualities at the station, introducing above ground into the underground. and vice versa.
 
 
 
 
 
Location Study
- Continuous Path: 
Looking at the close relationship of the three neighborhooding stations, there is continuity along the path of the green line across the three stations. 

- Pavillion as a Part of the Park: 
To merge the park and the station together, the pavilion, as an extension of the station, takes part of a park while the park is pulled into the station.

- Solar Movement Around Boylston Station:
One of the main elements to creating an outdoor atmosphere is natural light. In order to create a believable outdoor-like underground, as much light access is needed. The solar movement around Boylston Statin is from South East to West, thus the openings of the surface of pavillion faces toward the south to allow and reflect enough amount of lighting.

 
- Air Movement Around Boylston Station:
The wind rose diagram is shows pattern of the wind in Boston and the arrows indicate the local wind that flow along the streets and open area.
Boston MBTA Green Line
The Green Line of Boston MBTA is unique from other lines that it changes its level and contains the history subway trains at its original form as the street cars. This project is designed around the quality of Green Line that it travels both above and under ground. This project is focused on how light and ventilation can change the perception of whether it is above or underground.
