The Sokudo Pad is a motorcycle protective knee pad that utilises innovative design to improve convenience of the product for riders. Additive manufacturing processes are used to develop a unique 3D printed padding with the goal of improving convenience of motorcycle gear for riders. This project was conducted with a team of student engineers
The initial testing started with product design and development of the shape, attachment mechanism, and feel of the padding around a knee.
A CAD model was iterated and created using user interviews to progress the visual style and usage of the product. Utilising push studs for a fast attachment mechanism with a flexible printed padding onto Kevlar to improve upon the comfort and flexibility compared to existing motorcycle padding in the market.
Using the CAD model, a fully 3D printed knee pad was created to represent the final design of the product.
