Bass_line thrives on emerging performers to feed it’s West End underground culture from the basement of the Paringa Building, number 15 Hindley Street, simultaneously providing exposure for these local performers.

Restrained planning and straightforward circulation cultivate a human experience within an enduring and ageless space. From Hindley Street a window at ground level provides glimpses of an otherwise hidden occupation and discloses the vibrancy of a venue grown from the ground up.

The threshold between Hindley Street and the basement lead through the gilbert place laneway to a door marked only by an indiscreet sign. A staircase leads directly from the laneway into the basement.

Interaction with the rest of the building will occur through vertical connections in the form of light boxes, which as well as allowing light to penetrate the building will provide a space for installations to be shown.
