Polestar Design Contest (Finalist)

Polestar Smart delivery is designed as a last-mile delivery pod that is autonomous
and electric.
It will provide driver-less and fast services in a more eco-friendly way from a hub to
another or from a hub to the direct consumer.
Online commerce is growing rapidly with the revolution in various technological
fields. Autonomous last-mile delivery services are one of the biggest opportunities
recently because of the desire from customers for quicker delivery times and the
need for retailers to manage delivery costs. The urban society is looking for new
sustainable ways of managing congestion and reducing pollution with progressive
and electric mobility solutions. Also considering the ongoing global catastrophe due
to the COVID 19, contact-less delivery is one of the crucial concerns among mankind.
The working of this mobility solution is very effortless; actual Cargo pods can be
separated from the main body of the autonomous platform. They can be
loaded/unloaded from the rear side opening of the main vehicle. The cargo pods can
be customized according to the type of logistics they are carrying. Also, it can be
customized by the different types of clienteles who will use this delivery service
commercially.
In loading arenas, the empty cargo pods will be unloaded from the vehicle and the
stuffed cargo pods will be loaded. The vehicles can follow each other by platooning
in a fleet when they are sharing the same route. But when the last-mile destinations
are in different routes, they split up and move independently. A fleet of pods leaving
from the same loading hub and managed by the same logistics client can carry
different types of goods and merchandise. Upon reaching the destination, the
customer can scan the QR code being shown in the front display panel of the vehicle
with the Polestar smart delivery app to unlock the rear sliding gate. They can collect
their parcels afterwards. All these vehicles will be connected via single satellite
network.
There will be Polestar wireless charging stations distributed in the city where the
vehicles are being operated. The vehicle can find out the nearest charging station
with empty slots itself with the help of the connecting network.
On a final note, this autonomous delivery service will encourage a more sustainable
change in society towards a progressive future via delivering essentials in a fast and
contact-less way.
