WOMEN'S COOPERATIVE HOUSE

A women's house that really promotes the values of gender equality must, in the first place, enable the presence of women in its space. That is why this women's house can be thought as a Women's Cooperative House, with training and qualification capable of adding economic value to the daily activities that women already carry out. Especially in Baghere, where women play a crucial role in rice fields and cereal cultivation, the women’s cooperative house will offer an appropriate place for the processing and storage of the grains they cultivate, while also hosting awareness raising seminars and professional training that meets the practical demands of women.

DESIGN IDEA

In Baghere, as in many rural areas of Senegal, women get together in the shadows of trees for their collective activities. The project appropriates this social structure by creating a large shading roof, under which the program is implemented at the ends, forming an open and protected patio in the center for multiple use, that can house the most diverse activities, from lectures, awareness raising and mobilization events, to product processing activities, fairs, collective lunches and festivities.
