A collaborate project by Mandy(Yichen) Qian, Nil(Yang) Liu, Kai(Shuokai) Zhang.

We kept distance but we never forget each other.

This work was created during the quarantine period. We were not able to see those close to us, which makes the barrier between us and those we love like a wall. But no matter how difficult it was, we always made it through.

The inspiration came from the game of two paper cups and a rope in childhood. Pretend two paper cups are telephones. The device is connected by two Dupont wires: a tiny microphone that captures real-time sound in a paper cup, and an external speaker connected to the Arduino Bluetooth module on the other side, each connected to a computer.

The projection shows a clocklike audio visualisation that is constantly rotating and changing in real time according to the audience's voice, meaning that our voice will carve indelible marks on the growth rings of the years.

Dear ones, listen to me, we keep distance,  we will not be separated whatsoever.
