ArkansasBlue Retail Stores

Interior Design
Arkansas Blue Cross wanted to dress up their new retail store, and they wanted to do it by covering the walls in giant printed designs. This was a bit foreign to me, but I started to throw some ideas around and they did not like them. I had a very hard time reading what they wanted because I would talk to one person who would then talk to another, and those two people wanted different things. Needing a break, I passed it off to another designer for a bit until he had the same struggle. Long story short the middle man was cut out and I was able to incorporate the best parts of my initial designs and the other designs, and we came up with something that worked. Here are some pretty crude mockups, but that was also the only layout for the store we were offered.
As you walk in the store, there are three panels that greet you. We chose to do a kind of patterned background of cities in Arkansas to bring some personality to it. We did a light beige on beige to keep it from being too distracting. We also chose images from the city the store was in to bring a personal touch to the store.
In the end we changed the conference room picture to a shot of the River Market to avoid having too many shots of downtown Little Rock. There was some corridor art we didn't have a mockup for. The serving Arkansas corridor art has rectangular/square panels that kind of float 2-3 inches off of the wall, while the state shape and texture is adhered to the wall. We followed these same principles for a retail store in Rogers, and will do the same with the 6 other locations when their turn to get a refresh comes around.
And here are some of the final art mockups. In the image of the cyclists, the large blank spot is where a cabinet goes.
