DWB (Driving While Black) the poster began til some simple research over a social justice issue that affects the world today. My research focused on systemic racism, and driving while black is a product of that. The phrase is referring to the different outlook black Americans have to have while driving. We must be more cautious and careful because it is more common to get pulled over for your skin color rather than you actually doing something wrong. Bias yes, racist yes, and problem we can't control YES. Thus, I created this poster to symbolize the deaths of black Americans by police for a simple thing such as having an air freshener in your review mirror. A sad reality Black Americans have to face everyday.
