This was my second prototype (the first one was a disaster!) I followed a tutorial online that showed me how to create the main shutter mechanism, I built on this to make it suitable for my light.
Extra parts were added to the model so that the electricals could sit in the shutter neatly. This model was still very rough, there was a lot of friction when opening and closing the shutter, Also it needed some sort of outer ring would be needed to restrict the movement of the blades so that they stay in place everytime it is used.

This was the final model I made for the light, I decided on using acrylic to reduce the amount of friction. I used part of an acrylic tube to create the 'restrictor ring' and made a sliding door for the battery pack. I spray painted the underside of the bottom parts so that the electricals were hidden, i used a clear lacquer to create the same finish as the other acrylic parts. The blades were also sprayed and lacquered to reduce any friction on the overlap of the blades.
