Creating a Brand
This was a client project for Chesapeake Connections, an organization that brings 6th graders to the Chesapeake watershed and through hands-on exploration, teaches them about the effects of pollution problem and storm water run-off on our planet. I chose to play up the connections part of their story in my logo - connecting the kids with our water pollution problem and then the kids connecting with their parents to make everyone better stewards of our earth. There are many places in the mark and the text where there are connections being made.
Below is the one-page brandsheet showing the logo variations, as well as, the color pallet, the smallest size the logo should ever go, and what not to do with the logo.
Below are mock-ups of some merchandise and their trailer. They want to give away the water bottles to each student, so I thought having a place for a name would be smart. Since the students will be outdoors most of the day I chose to do a flat cap mock-up. It serves two purposes: kids think they are cool and it will keep the sun out of their faces.
For the trailer mock-ups, I had done the one on the diagonal first. While they liked it,
they wanted to see what it would look like horizontally, so I gave them that option too. There are pros and cons to both. The diagonal allows the mark to be bigger and therefore more eye-catching, but less space for other text and images. The Masthead mock-up is at the bottom and the logo is one inch in size when printed.
