Mixed Use Building - Competition

Mixed use municipal building
2019
Buenos Aires, Argentina

The project is located in an environmental area whose protection is vital for the preservation of wetlands and riverside forests. Starting from these environmental and urban context premises, and with the condition of eventual flooding of the land, the project tries to respect these circumstances and takes positions of dialogue between its architecture, the existing natural soil and the existing road infrastructure pedestrian walkways. The building is almost completely separated from the ground, matching the level of the existing walkways and allowing access from them. This action enables the coexistence between the project and its surroundings, freeing the passage of light and its pre-existing condition of flooding.

Understanding the existing homogeneous and horizontal environment, through a new hypothesis of the relationship between architecture and nature, vertical links are established. The perception of the existing natural environment will be through a veil provided by the architecture, which delimits a new space in the vastness of the reserve and generates new interior qualities that enhance the existing biological heritage through the envelope.
