HMS Bristol Flag Suite Decoration

This was another project undertaken during my time working for marketing agency Proctor + Stevenson. We were asked by the Royal Navy to curate a collection of photographs depicting Bristol scenes to decorate a new suite onboard the HMS Bristol.

Liaising with the client and my colleagues, such as P+S' art director, I researched and collected a selection of licensable photographs showing iconic Bristol characteristics, such as its vibrant art scene and history of industry. These images were appropriate to the to function of the room, which could be used to host foreign dignitaries and important meetings. I also helped to determine where to hang the images in the room, utilising images and measurements provided by the team on HMS Bristol. I considered the space available, making sure that the images wouldn't overpower the small room and making visualisations in Photoshop to test the positions. All of these considerations came together to determine the final selection; the number of images, what they depicted and their sizing.

I then created a caption holder graphic to go on each image, providing essential information in a clearly-visible way while not intruding too much in to the images and keeping in-style with the formal function of the room. I created an InDesign data merge file to populate the caption holders and a final ready-to-print design.

My colleague used the 3D software Cinema4D to create 3D mockups of the cabins and I was able to see my collection in position.
