With yin we (Aidan Zukowski and Dominika Mrkvová), set out to design a toaster. In our project our goal was to create a product that would be timeless as well as solve many problems with current toasters, for example a big footprint, tricky cleaning and unclear heat settings. We wanted to absolutely avoid using displays and instead focus on the haptic experience of using the toaster. In other words, make the interaction fun and satisfying.
Here you can see some things we wanted to avoid - displays, complicated cleaning, flimsy grills, unclear settings, and cable tangles (if im constantly moving the toaster in and out of the cupboard).
Here you can see that our experiment proves  there could be less settings and the toaster could use a carbon detector to sense the prensence of burning bread.
