#WrongTurn

A long term essay which portrays the lives of immigrants who arrive in Jakarta, Indonesia, from different villages around the country and find themselves in a dark circle of misery.

The fancy and more developed city of Indonesia, Jakarta; hides also the biggest misery and unfair condition to some of its citizens. Families who survive from the garbage, paying rents to live in small compartments within this mountain of garbage. Spaces like this are found in many #WrongTurns around the city.

This land is owned by a private owner who can not build, as it is a "green area" location determined by the government. The "green area" land is then used to dump garbage collected around the area and rent small spaces that families use for living and to separate and recycle (and sell) the garbage that arrives at the place.

The garbage becomes the only thing these families have, their incoming and their misery.

PD. As a personal note: Most of the time, once I finished photographing a family they would say "Thank you Mister" and they would make me blushed, knowing that I was the one who was intruding into their home and altering their privacy.
