THE WOVEN HOUSE

The Woven house is the winning pavilion of the design competition launched by Ab Rogers Design in London and the Wonderfruit Festival in Thailand. This new spatial piece would host an exhibition about the different ethos of the event.

The price was to travel to Thailand the month before the Festival and build the pavilion in collaboration with the local laborers.
geometrical and light space. Inspired by Thailand's weaving technique, it's fully adapted for it's sunny and windy location.

This vibrant installation wants to celebrate the beauty of the invisible labor in a colourful and geometric pavilion. Indeed inspired by the concept of the “nimble fingers.” This structure highlight the women recruited in South Asia textile industries for their weaving techniques and attention to detail.

Challenging materials and construction methods, the pavilion is made of colored rope. Inspired by the looms, it needs precise control of their tension and knotting technique.

The Woven House is a spatial project with a strong graphic identity, a clear example of bonding two graphics and spatial design, Trojans Collective's signature.
The Woven House celebrates local craft and materials. Counting with a bamboo structure that makes the edges of two rectangular prisms, one inserted in the other, and a system of woven walls made 10mm cotton rope.

Designed for an exhibition, the interior of the Woven House is lace with white rope. A white canvas for colored light. The external walls and roofs, on the other hand, are weaved in yellow, blue, red, purple, and orange are chose to embrace the colour palette of the landscape and inspired by the natural pigments of the area.

The structure adapts to the natural conditions of its context; strong wind and bright sun. The woven walls allow the airflow and create areas of shade.
The design contemplates iterations of itself from year to year, the structure remains, but the weaving can change in each edition of the Festival. Indeed, the installation appears and disappears every season by knotting the rope around a minimal bamboo structure.
