Our client wanted a landscape that would reflect their creative and inventive lifestyles. With their children grown, they chose to renovate a mid-century Oakland hillside home with a sophisticated, contemporary touch.

We designed this garden to entice the visitor from the moment they walk through the gate. Many artistic and innovative elements are there to be experienced--from the recycled redwood bench to the tactile “light wall”, the colorful textures of the planted space, and the striking steel walls, gates and screening elements.

 

We worked with local artisans to create unique garden elements that showcase the client's sculpture collection. A recycled redwood bench is just one of the many features created with the help of local artisans. The plantings are drought-tolerant yet lush, colorful, and horticulturally racy. The deck provides views of the clients' new garden as well as the greater Bay Area.
