St. Louis Brochure

ARTS 222 Prompt:

"Create a brochure for a location of your choice.
- You can use as many colors as you’d like, but it is wise to use no more than 5.
- You may use photos (stock photos or your own) and illustrations.
- Be sure to apply all the principles of design to create a successful brochure."

I created a brochure for the city of Saint Louis, Missouri, which is very close to my hometown. I am interested in the city, and I wanted to learn more about it. The main attraction in St. Louis is the Gateway Arch, which I chose to highlight on the inside of my poster. I used Adobe Illustrator to create both the Arch and the skyline of some of the main buildings within St. Louis, and I created a gradient to resemble a sky behind the buildings. To create repetition, I took the color of the buildings, and I made it the background color of the outside of the brochure. I used two typefaces throughout the brochure, and I stayed consistent with the size, color, and opaque background of all the text blocks. Lastly, I highlighted main attractions in St. Louis, while also using small illustrations to help break up the text on the outside of the brochure.
