The Pavilion is the result of a project run by architecture tutors Daniel Mallo and Armelle Tardiveau and involving 3rd year architecture students from Newcastle University.

The aim of the Pavilion is to showcase how architecture should be aware of its natural environment and how it can foster reciprocal ecological relationships.  The Pavilion intends to raise awareness of the exceptional wildlife corridors that run through the city and their biodiversity.  It is hoped that increased public awareness will help with future efforts to conserve biodiversity in Newcastle.

Finally, the Pallet Pavilion also has the potential to become an educational resource to observe and record how species colonise and appropriate built structures. From a sustainable perspective, the structure will showcase to the general public how building materials can be recycled and be locally sourced.
