Pop Art Wuhan - Silkscreen Solo Exhibition

This silkscreen painting series was first penned to raise awareness of these iconic structures that have stood the test of time on the Wuhan (China) skyline. As with any growing city, with growth comes the need to renew, to recycle. Though this expansion can often come at the expense of these beautiful structures.

With this series I wanted to draw attention to the architectural beauty of these buildings, whilst using vivid, pop-art inspired colours to paint them with a fresh, modern feeling that would appeal to the younger generations of Chinese citizens. I would describe my style as quite 'graphic', which lends itself well with the silkscreen process that was used for all these illustrations.

I hope you enjoy looking through these and that it could give you a taste of the city, away from all the skyscrapers and flashy lights. Wuhan is a city with many hidden gems down its many winding streets and avenues.
