The development on Himley Lane, is the first Rural Exception site in South Staffordshire and was built following consultation with the local community, which revealed that affordable housing was needed. The 14 new properties have provided affordable housing that will only ever be available to local people.
Worked with the local authority’s conservation officer taking design inspiration from local buildings  to create a simple cottage style 'gateway' development in keeping with the area, respecting the local vernacular and creating a high quality residential environment.
David Orr, chief executive of the National Housing Federation visited Swindon in South Staffordshire to officially opened the development.

On presenting the first family with the keys to their new home, David Orr commented:
Gavin Williamson MP for South Staffordshire joined local councillors and residents to officially open the latest housing development from South Staffordshire Housing Association (SSHA).
Mr Williamson unveiled the new road sign on the development and commented: “These smaller developments are essential for tackling the housing shortage in our region, while ensuring our villages are kept unspoilt. Our district is proud to be rural and, as such, we support developments that are sympathetic to their surroundings. These are some of the nicest affordable homes I have seen, and hope that they have set a precedent for houses in the region.”
Development nominated for South Staffordshire CouncilConservation & Design Awards 2012 and short listed for theSouthern Staffordshire Regeneration Awards 2012.
