Temporary Exhibition Pavilion [BAS II]

A focus on the source of life and existance in Cape Town, the Camissa River, which runs down from the top of Table Mountain, through the Platteklip Gorge and into canals which used to feed the Company’s Gardens, and thus, produce life and food for all to enjoy and thrive apon.

This project focuses on the return to a sustainable lifestyle that focuses on nature and the source of life; water. The temporory exhibition pavillion forces the participant to be exported from a worldy experience at the base of the South African National Gallery courtyard through a vertical journey, to the inside of a telescope which ensures one’s attention is placed on the natural views from the city, specifically that of the Camissa River. The journey one participates in while walking through the city of Cape Town, the Company’s Gardens, National Gallery and into the courtyard, is then directed by the floor plane to the vertical element, this transports the journey goer up and outwards towards nature.
