This collection is my tribute to the humble bench – a necessity in any garden, allowing us to rest and enjoy the colour, form and fragrance around us.  Benches are often located at focal points in the garden and their appearance reflects the cultivated environment around them, sometimes attractively overgrown and wrapped in flowers and foliage.  Their designs are many and varied, ornate or simple, metal or wood, pristine or weatherworn.  As a professional photographer I've enjoyed capturing images of benches in their context - focusing inwards on the places where others pause to look out at the wider garden.  Just a few of these pictures are featured here.
