Design Philosophy
A Logo derives its meaning from the quality of the things it symbolizes. A logo does not sell nor rarely does it describe what it represents. Logo is there for identity - simple, memorable, appropriate, reliable and thoughtful.

The design
Alappuzha is a perfect blend of land and water and also, the traditional and the modern. It is dotted with temples and medieval warehouses. It is soaked in stories of Puranas and global trade from ancient and medieval to modern period. It had trade relations with Rome and Greece in ancient times and with colonial powers right from the 15th century with the Portuguese followed by the Dutch and the English.

Among the foreigners that made Alappuzha their trading hub, it is the Dutch that left lasting marks on the architecture of the city. They were instrumental is developing the canal system that runs through the heart of Alappuzha. They built warehouses and factories on both sides of the canals for storing spices.

The ‘open gable’ that is unique to Kerala architecture is the prime motif of the logo.
The pointed ‘stupa’, like cupped hands in prayer, reveals a pious humility and a welcoming heart. The blue line at the bottom points to the canals that wrap Alappuzha distinctively in their fold.

Modern design has to take into account every single pixel in its digital existence. The design has tried to ensure the logo stands out in a twitter header to an highway hoarding, from an Instagram DP to a museum signage.
