This project came out of a course entitled New Product Development and was made possible via the partnership of CCA & The Hass Business School at UC Berkeley during the fall of 2008. The intention of the course aimed to develop the interdisciplinary skills required for successful product development in today’s competitive marketplace.

TCHO is a gourmet chocolate company based in San Francisco, CA. The project brief was to design new products for the rising social millennial generation. As the project lead, I was in charge of deliberating team member duties and organizing collected data to develop new chocolate ideas. The following products are the result of three months of research and development.
ROCOCO Chocolate Garnish

Through research we found that the millennial generation is inherently social. Imbibing plays a big part of that. Chocolate can conceivably be complimentary to many specialty cocktails. So came the idea to create a chocolate product for social drinking situations. The greatest challenge was to develop a form that encouraged the consumption of the chocolate. Instead of giving a pre-packaged piece of chocolate to a consumer, the experience would be much more entertaining by 'wedging' chocolate on a cocktail glass.

A GEM A DAY

The idea of A Gem A Day came from understanding the positive nutritional benefits of pure and dark chocolate. The form of the chocolate pieces provoke a sense of luxury, insisting the induglence of eating chocolate daily to fortify one's mood.
