The Regeneration of Mancho Stream in Seoul

The Mancho Stream Regeneration in Seoul

Most of stream in Korea is covered and used as road nowadays through the extreme economic development. Mancho stream is also remained as a dry stream, and contains urban infrastructure like sewage system under and along itself. In our project, we did not use any artificial materials but reorganized existing sewage system by reflecting context and history of this urban stream. Therefore, this project can gives remained dry stream again to people. Moreover, people can recognize an environment and ecology of this era by experiencing row materials and actual situation of the stream in this project.

The stream development which has linear characteristics through various programs, neighboring areas becomes one network, not a simple park. The network system brings different users from office, residence, cultural facility, public establishment closer together. Furthermore, It can be possible to interact and communicate with diverse users who don't have social exchange and facilities and programs which work as a fragments yet. This is the new way of creating public space that we haven't seen in Korea.
