The winds howled,
the roar came,
the earth shook, and still we did not waver.
We did what we’ve always done. We reached out to each other. We joined hands. We covered our young. We bowed our head. We endured. We survived.
And as the darkness lifted, as the last gust relented, we did what we’ve always done.
We reached out to each other. We joined hands. We bowed her head. We endured. We survived.
Now, we lift our eyes to the sun, with hope against all hope, with our hearts saddened but our spirit renewed, we move forward in faith for a new day.
