PRODIGIES MAGAZINE

The name of my Magazine is called “Prodigies” this is directed towards the main target audience, Young Student Designers who wish to further educate themselves about the knowledge of design through various disciplines as they are the future prodigies of the design world. My aim is to encourage young designers to engage in academic readings that typically seem daunting in a creative format. The theme of my issue is “Typography Emits Emotion" as both articles convey the significance of the way in which emotion and behaviour is elicited through typography. The word Creation was a word within the article “The Poetic Experience” by Maya P. Lim as this word stirs a sense of emotion especially within young designers who create designs for the future. Each colour is a representation of both articles; the colour of each letter is parallel to the one before to create contrast and depth, I used the colours teal and pink as they contrast against one another through both Rizzo and spot colours. Through the craft of handmade lettering and the use of watercolour, I conveyed raw emotion as it emphasises the importance of authenticity. I created a small jacket on the bottom of the magazine for my masthead, bar code, price and article names in order to create segregation between the cover and information which continues through the spine and back cover. This theme continues within the magazine as the body text is teal whilst the pink spot colour acts as the visual feature on the pages as a reflection of existing words in the articles as they reflect the meaning of one another.
