Heavybit Industries is a home for cloud software developers and startups that functions as a cross between an incubator and an academy, housed within a three-level concrete and timber frame 16,000 square foot warehouse. The design concept revolves around the client’s desire for the space and its details to counteract the ephemerality of “the cloud.” Design elements are introduced which play light against heavy appearances and materials, while expanding three-dimensionally on Heavybit’s hexagonal logo. The space contains three installation projects-within-the-project that IwamotoScott fabricated and installed: HexCell Fabric Ceiling, HexCell Steel Light and Rope Room.
