The Poynter Institute for Media Studies commissioned Poynter Oldstyle with a two-part brief: a neutral voice to suit many editorial stances and the flexibility to anticipate press behavior. The design begins with the sixteenth-century Flemish punch cutter Hendrik van den Keere, whose designs are still a model of balance and calm.
