Rios Clementi Hale Studios provided interior design and landscape architectural design services for this new home located on a 1-acre lot in the hills of Santa Barbara. A steep ravine cuts off the property to the east, ending in a creek that provided some of the raw materials for the landscape - incredible sandstone boulders that were strategically placed around the site. With the house reflecting the true indoor-outdoor lifestyle of the couple, the interior furnishings and the landscape responds more than adequately. All the main living spaces – the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and halls, connect to the outdoors. Japanese influenced courtyards break up the main sections of the home and accent the warmly elegant interior finishes. A kitchen vegetable garden, outdoor dining spaces, pool terraces and small courtyards create individual spaces that link together and enable group gatherings and private retreats.
