Oregon Series
In late 2003, the watch market was saturated with timepieces that were impossibly complex and adorned with irrelevant interfaces and features. Nike recoginzed the need for a watch that was both accessible to users and of world-class design and premium construction. Scott Wilson, former Global Creative Director for Nike, was brought in to address the market’s missing piece.
Wilson created the ultimate in extreme training watches with Nike's Oregon Series Watch Collection. In collaboration with Lance Armstrong and three-time ECO challenge winner Ian Adamson, features and functions for the new series were blueprinted. Wilson’s final design for the series was specifically tailored to meet the needs of such adventure racers.
The Oregon Series is based on a solid forged aluminum case and a pinless uni-body strap. Concern for small details such as the knurled buttons and their familiar round form are combined with fluid surfaces through advanced manufacturing techniques creating a truly timeless design. Wilson’s constant concern for precision and attention to these small details allowed for a design with the ability to emotionally speak to users through its strong characteristics of durability, longevity and trust.
