West Hollywood, California, 2013
Small boutique for a special tailored men’s label based in Los Angeles. The walls of the narrow space are clad in brass sealed in a subdued finish somewhere between polished and antiqued. The panels reflect the clothes and provide the room with depth. Simple hang bars present the clothing in museum-like simplicity, and shelves of Claro walnut display folded clothes. Strong linear lighting runs front to back, and plants in geometric metal planters hang below skylights in the center of the store. There is a carved walnut table and stools by sculptor Alma Allen. The main dressing area is comfortable and intimate with full height velvet drapes a fireplace and upholstered seating. It’s as if Dior had been born in California.
