San Francisco, California, 2013
Retail design concept for the California based ceramics company. The concept was inspired by the original Heath factory built in Sausalito in 1948, with the mission to successfully use and showcase the company’s glazed tile and dinnerware. Three locations have been completed to date, including a retrofit of a 60,000 square foot 1960’s factory building in the Potrero neighborhood in San Francisco, that includes a retail space, gallery, café and artists studios overlooking a glassed in tile factory. The new Heath factory and store is a peek into the future of American manufacturing and retail combined in one urban space. The shopper can literally participate in the “process” of product making by viewing the production of handmade tiles from every programmed area of the building.
