Marin County, California, 2013
Interior design of a high-end restaurant offering only products made and grown in California. The original barn structure was exposed and in keeping with the artisan food concept, a group of California based artists and craftsmen were enlisted to collaborate in the design. All tile is by Sausalito based Heath Ceramics. All tables and the 50-foot long bar top are by Joshua Tree sculptor, Alma Allen. Candleholders are by L.A. ceramicist Adam Silverman, and even the napkins and uniforms are manufactured locally by Small Trade Company. Furniture pieces were commissioned from Bolinas based artisan Trip Carpenter (son of legend, Arthur Spinet Carpenter) and from Michael Boyd in Los Angeles. All finishes were left in their most natural state. The goal was to create an experience that captures a new kind of “luxury”, one that is handcrafted, free of decoration and highly appealing to all senses.
